PSEG Exceeds EPA Climate Leaders Goal

The federal government has announced that Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) achieved the carbon emissions reduction goal set in 2002 as part of its participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Leaders Program. PSEG voluntarily pledged to reduce its U.S. greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 18% from 2000 levels by the year 2008. The company surpassed its goal by achieving a 31% reduction. Read more

Trend: Americans Think Global Warming Is Exaggerated

So says a recent Gallup poll. All I can say is, wait unti American’s utility bills go up from a cap and trade. Then they’ll REALLY think global warming is exaggerated.
Gallup:
Although a majority of Americans believe the seriousness of global warming is either correctly portrayed in the news or underestimated, a record-high 41% now say it is exaggerated. This represents the highest level of public skepticism about mainstream reporting on global warming seen in more than a decade of Gallup polling on the subject. Read more

Gap, eBay and Symantec Join Business Coalition Calling for Action on Clean Energy & Climate Change

Ceres President Mindy Lubber today announced that three new companies — Gap Inc., eBay Inc. and Symantec Corp. — have joined a new business coalition, Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy (BICEP). The coalition is calling for strong U.S. climate and energy policies in 2009 to spur clean energy and reduce global warming pollution.
The new members were announced at a policy discussion this morning of founding members of the four-month-old coalition that includes Levi Strauss & Co., Nike, Sun Microsystems, Starbucks and The Timberland Co. Read more
